Mabel "Faye" Boyd
HIGHLANDTOWN - Mabel "Faye" Boyd, 97, of Highlandtown, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at Salem Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 15, 1925, in Mechanicstown, the daughter of the late Clyde and Grace (Guess) Ferguson. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death on March 29, 2000, by her husband, Walter T. Boyd, whom she married on Valentine's Day in 1942. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Faye Boyd-Polen; granddaughter, Trevor Polen; and seven siblings: Clyde "Fernley" Ferguson, Gene Ferguson, Kenneth Ferguson, Warren Ferguson, Doris "Dolly" Williamson, Wilda Smith, and Darl Ferguson.
Faye had been the manager of the paddle factory in the National College Supply division of the WC Bunting Company. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially close to her grandchildren. Faye liked to cook and loved to bake pies. She was very patriotic and worked diligantly to get the American flags on the posts in the Highlandtown area. She was a member of the Highlandtown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Walter "Kim" (Debbie) Boyd of Hammondsville and Harold "Kalen" Boyd of Pittsburgh; three granddaughters: Whitney Polen, Amanda (Scotty Heiney) Boyd, and Kimberly (Jake) Crawford; six great-grandchildren: Kodi and Cameron Wilmore, Collin and Ellie Heiney, and Jacob and Liam Crawford; and two great-great-grandchildren: Railey and Urijah Tallman.
According to Faye's wishes, a private family service will be held. Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with her arrangements.
Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
