Obituary of Robert L. Curtis
Robert L. "Bob" Curtis
HAMMONDSVILLE - In the early afternoon of August 10, 2022, the gates of Heaven opened and the angels rejoiced upon the arrival of the blessed soul of Robert L. "Bob" Curtis. Born on December 25, 1937, Bob was 84 years old. With arms opened wide, he was received by his late wife, Regina Cunningham Curtis, whom he married on November 3, 1956, and by his beloved son, Eric (Rick) Curtis. Bob was also greeted in Heaven by his parents, Margaret (Coleman) and Clarence Curtis, Sr.; brothers: Clarence and William Curtis; and sisters: Shirley Donaldson and Linda Grimm; all of whom he loved and cherished. He was also preceded in death by his extended son, James R. Halfhill.
A lifelong resident and 1956 graduate of Wellsville High School, Bob proudly served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1995 from Ohio Edison after being employed as a lab technician for over thirty years. Bob was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. In his younger years, he himself played baseball, basketball, and All State Ohio football. He attended the Living Well Church in Wellsville.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who devoted his life to God and all those he loved. In 1986, Regina and Bob became foster parents to many children, approximately forty-eight over the years. He opened his heart and home, not only to them, but also to many of the wonderful neighbors and friends he met along the way.
Left to cherish all of their beautiful memories are his loving wife, Sally (Boyd) Halfhill Curtis, whom he married March 17, 2007, and loved and cherished so dearly; sons: Daniel Curtis (Denny Seduski) of Toronto and William Curtis of Wellsville; daughter-in-law, Lori Curtis (Rick) of Chester; and sister-in-law, Patty Curtis (Bill) of Ohio. Also surviving are his extended children: Ginger Dawn Pease (Mick), Arther Brown, Marsae Hadley (David), Master Sgt. David F. Halfhill (Staff Sgt. Courtney), Cpt. Michelle Henderson (Col. Granville), Shirley Messick (Tola), Susan Marie Perce (Kenny), David Halfhill, Jr. (Cheryl), and many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, where Pastor Dirk Hall and Pastor Herman Tranter will be conducting the services. Friends may call from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, at which time the funeral service will immediately follow. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors at 12:50 pm.
Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to the Dixon Healthcare Center and Southern Care Hospice, both of Wintersville, for their wonderful love and care given by their staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Bob's name to the Living Well Church, 403 17th Street, Wellsville, OH 43968.
