Shirley Ann Montgomery
WELLSVILLE - Shirley Ann Montgomery, 83, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at East Liverpool City Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 15, 1939, in Calcutta, the daughter of the late John F. and Hulda E. (Ayers) Morton. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death on January 12, 2017, by her husband, Eugene "Jeep" Montgomery, whom she married August 19, 1967. She was also preceded in death by five sisters: Della Shaw, Iris Woody, Mary Newlen, Pauline Novack, and Stella Young; and two brothers: John and Roy Morton. Shirley was the youngest of eight children and was the last surviving sibling.
Shirley graduated from East Liverpool High School, and she immediately went to work as a cook for the former Traveler's Hotel. She retired in 2000 from Elby's Big Boy Restaurant where she worked as a salad prep for eleven years. More recently, Shirley and her husband, Jeep, were the caretakers at Shoub Towers in Wellsville. From the time she was a young girl, Shirley always had a nurturing spirit and continued to be a caretaker to her family and friends up until the time of her passing. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and she was named Mother of The Year by WOHI radio station. At the age of fifty-two, Shirley received her driver's license for the first time and was unstoppable! She loved to be involved in the lives of her grandchildren and attended all of their dance recitals and baseball games. Shirley was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed baking and shared her passion with the Riverside Pie Bakers. In her spare time, Shirley loved to watch old westerns and detective dramas on television.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl E. Roe and her husband, Gordon, of Wellsville; one granddaughter, Olivia Ann Roe; and one grandson, Geordon Charles Roe.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Deacon Terry McCuen of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:00 - 3:00 pm and 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
