James J. "Jim" Volino, Sr.
WELLSVILLE - James J. "Jim" Volino, Sr., 88, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born November 27, 1933, in Wellsville, the son of the late Luigi and Josephine (Sepe) Volino. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death on December 25, 2020, by his wife, Esther (Culp) Volino, whom he married May 29, 1954. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Fannie Jarvis, Annie Volino, and Rosa Maggio; and six brothers: Rocco, Mike, Samuel, Emanuel, Ralph, and Dominic Volino.
Jim graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952, and he served in the United States Army in Korean from 1956-1958. Jim was employed as a maintenance mechanic for the former Crucible Steel Mill and J&L Steel before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Wellsville Sons of Italy Lodge 657, Wellsville VFW Post 5647, and a lifetime member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge 1040. Jim was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Jayne (Doug) Rose of Wellsville; and one son, James J. Volino, Jr. of Wellsville. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Shayne (Kiley) Rose and Aubrey (Josh) Carr; and four great-grandchildren: Brody, Max, Ari, and Jameson.
A private family funeral service will be held with Rev. Bernard Gaeta officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
