James "Ellwood" Jenkins
GEORGETOWN, SC - James "Ellwood" Jenkins, 87, of Georgetown, SC, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, at his daughter's home in Lexington, SC.
He was born June 13, 1934, in McDowell, West Virginia, the son of the late Sterling and Juanita (Holland) Jenkins. In addition to his parents, Ellwood was preceded in death on March 7, 1976, by his first wife, Ruth (Whetzle) Jenkins, whom he married April 19, 1959, and on March 8, 2012, by his second wife, Virginia "Ginny" (Popa) Jenkins, whom he married in July of 1978. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Janell; one step-daughter, Janet; and one step-son, Danny.
Ellwood graduated from Wellsville High School, and he served in the United States Air Force. He was a welder for the former Crucible Steel Mill and Georgetown Steel Mill. Ellwood was a very active member of the Ringel Heights Church. After his retirement, Ellwood was an avid fisherman. His life motto was, "God, family and fishing."
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa (Donald) Cole of Lexington, SC; one son, James Rodney (Renee) Jenkins of Georgetown, SC; one step-son, Steve Harbert; two sisters: Joyce (William) Fraily of Salineville, and Ruby (Tom) Jones of East Liverpool; and one brother, Satch (Melissa) Jenkins of Salineville. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren: Travis, Ryan, Samantha, Jennifer, Alex, Tina, Donnie, Michael, Jessica, Alyse, Aaron, Leslie, Steven, Michael, and Christopher, along with sixteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.
Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
