Carrie Ann McMahon
WELLSVILLE - Carrie Ann McMahon, 82, of Wellsville, passed away at her daughter's home on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from complications of Covid-19.
She was born August 21, 1939, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Edward and Mabel (Baker) Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by three sisters: Ilene Dobson, Evelyn Pastore, and Maude Prince; and one brother, Edward "Jimmy" Fitzgerald.
Carrie graduated from Wellsville High School in 1957. She was a well-known seamstress in the area and had worked at Paul Arrow's Pants Shop. She had also been employed as the maitre d at The Willows Restaurant, and she owned and operated a sub shop and Carrie's Corner Candy Shop in Wellsville. Carrie was an active part of her community, having been a member at the Wellsville Alumni Activities Committee where she volunteered her time at the spaghetti dinners and performed in the Lip Sync Shows. She was also an active member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Carrie was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include her husband, John McMahon, whom she married August 18, 1962; one daughter, Bridget McMahon of Wellsville; one son, Jamie McMahon of Wellsville; four grandchildren: Taylor Lattanzio of New Waterford, Eric McMahon of Calcutta, Jeffrey McMahon of Wellsville, and Douglas McMahon of Wellsville; and two great-grandchildren: Gianna and Giovanni Lattanzio of New Waterford.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. The family requires that face masks be worn inside the funeral home.
