Elizabeth "Betty" Walko

 

WELLSVILLE - Elizabeth "Betty" Walko, 93, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at her home.

 

She was born February 23, 1928, in Port Homer, OH, the daughter of the late Myrtle (Arnold) and Herbert Hood, Sr. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on April 15, 2002, by her husband, John Walko, whom she married October 4, 1967. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jean Hanselman; and three brothers: Herbert Hood, Jr., Thomas McKelvey, and Harold McKelvey. 

 

Betty had previously been employed as a cashier at the State Theater and as a clerk at Tri-State News Agency, Paper Products Company, and Lawson's 5&10. She was a member of the fomer High Noon Bowlers League, Yellow Creek Grange, and Missionary Club. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

 

Survivors include one son, Donald Balser of Wellsville; one step-son, John Walko of Wellsville; four grandchildren: Donna Balser, Steven Balser, Jamie Ewing, and Matthew Walko; and three great-grandchildren: Zackary Balser, Codie Balser, and Steven Austin Balser.
 

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Stanley of the church officiating.

 

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

 

Family and friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
