Obituary of William Glenn Ketchum

William Glenn Ketchum

William Glenn Ketchum (Bill) fought a hard fight but left this world on March 1, 2021. He was 82.

He was born at home in Lisbon on April 22, 1938, the son of the late Homer S. Ketchum and Evelyn Jarvis VanRoyen.

He spent much of his childhood on the Jarvis farm in Highlandtown and in Wellsville. Bill was a proud member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1956 and maintained lifelong friendships with many of his classmates.

While in high school, Bill worked at Thorofare Market in East Liverpool and later managed similar stores in the region. He also worked for several years as the assistant manager at Valu King in East End before beginning a 30-year career at Quaker State Oil Refinery from where he retired in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie, to whom he was married for nearly 61 years. He was Dad to his four kids Tina Smith (Rick) of New Cumberland; Bill (Jae Hee) of Canfield; Doug (Tanya) of Lisbon; and Jack (Kerri) of Weirton; and he was Pap to his grandkids Eva Hollidge (Jeff), Haileigh, Garrett, Hillarie, Samantha, Jackson and Adison; his great-grandson Brantley Hollidge; and a second great-grandchild expected in October.

He is also survived by his uncle Glenn Jarvis, who was like a brother, and his aunt, Agnes (Jarvis) Ward.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Philip VanRoyen of Salineville.

He was a former member of the Wellsville Elks, a social member of the Wellsville American Legion Post 70 and a member of the Wellsville Christian Church. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and always putting others before himself. He loved dogs, the Cleveland Browns and cheering for his kids and grandkids at whatever they took on.
