Joseph P. "Jojo" DaLonzo
WELLSVILLE - Joseph P. "Jojo" DaLonzo, 85, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, at East Liverpool City Hospital due to the COVID-19 virus.
He was born April 27, 1935, in Wellsville, the son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Provenzano) DaLonzo. In addition to his parents, Jojo was preceded in death in 2000 by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Green) DaLonzo, whom he married in 1961; and his infant sister, Irene DaLonzo.
Jojo graduated from Wellsville High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He was employed as a chipper and inspector for the former Crucible Steel Mill. Jojo was a member of the Wellsville SOI Lodge 657, Wellsville Lions Club, Jaycees, and the American Legion Post 374. He cherished the time he spent with his family, and he was always willing to sit down and have a glass of wine with his friends. He was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Jojo was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
Survivors include two sons: Joseph A. DaLonzo and his wife, Beth, of Gahanna, OH, and Nicholas DaLonzo of Wellsville; one daughter, Melissa DaLonzo of East Liverpool; one step-daughter, Dawn Greene-Bergles of Wellsville; and three brothers: Frank DaLonzo of Wellsville, Rock DaLonzo of East Liverpool, and John DaLonzo of Mechanicstown. Also surviving are three grandsons: Nick DaLonzo, Ryan Watkins, and Kyle Smith.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the nature of Joe's passing, the family has decided not to hold any services at this time.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with Joe's arrangements.
The DaLonzo family would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the COVID-19 virus is very real and deadly. They implore you to do what it takes to protect yourself and your loved ones.
