
Obituary of Ray Eugene Parsons
Ray Eugene Parsons, Sr.
WELLSVILLE - Ray Eugene Parsons, Sr., 74, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born August 11, 1945, at Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville, WV, the first born child of the late Charles Ray and Lucille (Noland) Parsons. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death on September 28, 2011, by his younger sister, Becky Kerr.
Ray served in the United States Army from 1969-1972 during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a truck driver.
Survivors include two sisters: Linda Sue Parsons-Mease and her companion, Chuck Gulley, of Moundsville, WV, and Dixie Parsons of Wellsville; and two brothers: Charles "Bob" Parsons and his wife, Elaine, of Zanesville, OH, and Larry Parsons and his wife, Mary, of New Martinsville, WV; and Ray's long-time companion and a great help to the family, Paula Gillen. Also surviving are two daughters: Samantha Travis and her husband, Chris, and Tammy Sabo; and two sons: Ray Parsons, Jr. and Patrick Parsons; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Ray will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park where full military honors will be accorded.
