James D. "Jim" Elliott


WELLSVILLE - James D. "Jim" Elliott, 87, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at Calcutta Health Care Center.


He was born March 25, 1933, in Knoxville, Ohio, the son of the late Donald "Bill" and Bernice (Felton) Elliott. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one son, James "Doug" Elliott.


Jim graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952, and he served in the United States Army from 1953-1955He was employed as a crane operator for the former Crucible Steel Mill and Colt Industries before retiring in 1982. He had also been employed for fifteen years as a custodian in the Wellsville Local School District. Jim was a retired member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Welch) Elliott, whom he married September 6, 1958; two sons: Ron Elliott and his wife, Kathy, of East Liverpool, and Don Elliott and his wife, Karen, of Wellsville; and one daughter-in-law, Kandy Elliott of Wellsville. Also surviving are three sisters: Ruth Hepp of St. Augustine, FL, Becky (Lenny) Piko of Wintersville, OH, and Jacki Gerbatt of Surprise, AZ; three grandchildren: Sanna Surace, Chad Elliott, and Chelsea Elliott; and three great-grandchildren: Gio Surace, Aubrey Elliott, and Cheyenne Morris.

Due to the COVD-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.


Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Jim's name to: Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department, 1200 Main Street, Wellsville, OH  43968.
