Martin L. "Marty" Stemple, Jr.
WELLSVILLE - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and pap pap, Martin L. "Marty" Stemple, Jr., 78, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. He was surrounded by love and peace with his family and beloved dog, Cocoa, by his side.
He was born July 6, 1941, in Belington, WV, the son of the late Nadine (Koontz) and Martin L. Stemple, Sr. In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Keith Reese.
Marty was a 1959 graduate of Wellsville High School. He retired in 1994 from Lordstown General Motors after having been employed as an inspector for thirty years. Marty and his daughter, Nicki, owned and operated Marty's Tattoo and Nicki's Body Piercing in Wellsville for twenty years.
He was an avid collector and hunter of Indian artifacts after being introduced to this hobby by his friend, Harry Cline. Marty became a Kentucky Colonel of Archaelogy in 1984, and he was mentioned in a book by Colonel Vietzen. He was also a member of the Aboriginal Club. Marty enjoyed various other hobbies as well. He shared a passion of deer hunting with his daughter, Nicki, and his friends, and he also enjoyed fishing with his son-in-law, Vinnie. He did autobody work his whole life, and he loved riding and working on motorcycles. He collected antiques and loved to cook. Marty loved to tell stories, and he always had a big smile on his face. He loved to bring laughter to everyone around him. He also enjoyed attending his children's sporting events and school activities.
Marty leaves behind many family members including his wife of thirty-eight years, Donna (Fluharty) Stemple, whom he married August 24, 1981; his four daughters: Tyra (Alan) Ruhlman of Cortland, OH, Tammy (Mark) Rienzi of Cortland, OH, Trina (Charles) Thornsberry of Louisville, KY, and Nicole (Vinnie) Kirkpatrick of Tappan Lake, OH; and one sister, Carolyn Reese of Biloxi, MS. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Todd Ruhlman, Trisha (Paul Freer) Ruhlman, Vinnie Rienzi, Kaylie Thornsberry, and Skylar Perez; and two great-grandchildren: Brantley and Haylee Freer. There is also a great-granddaughter, Mylee, on the way.
Above all else, Marty loved his family and many friends. He will be greatly loved and missed by all who loved him.
