Obituary of Martha Blackburn
TORONTO - Martha Blackburn, 87, of Toronto, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.
She was born December 22, 1931, in Salineville, the daughter of the late Vernon and Mildred (Echols) Howell. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death on January 1, 1988, by her second husband, Deputy Sheriff Thomas Blackburn, whom she married June 29, 1974. She was also preceded in death in 2017 by her first husband and the father of her children, Jack Ernest Ingram, Sr. Also preceding Martha in death were her daughter, Elizabeth Diane Ingram; her son, Thomas Fletcher Ingram; two sisters: Mary Jane Wright and Pat Boley; two brothers: Tom Howell and Albert Howell; and two grandsons: Rob Millhorn and Josh Cochran.
Martha graduated from Wellsville High School in 1949. She was employed for forty years as a potter for Pioneer Pottery before retiring in 2002. Following her retirement from the pottery, Martha was a secretary for OPERS. She was a member and pastor at Word of Life Chapel in Wellsville. Martha lived a long, full life. She loved animals and gardening, especially her tulips. Her hard work ethic and devotion to the Lord and her family will live on through all who loved her.
Survivors include two daughters: Virginia Kay Ingram of Wintersville and Carolyn Boyd and her husband, Ron, of Canton; two sons: Jack Ernest "Ernie" Ingram, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Richmond, and David Ingram of Lisbon; one step-son, Randy Ingram of Irondale; one sister, Ruth Thrasher of Wellsville; and two brothers: Jim Howell and his wife, Cindy, of Wellsville, and Bobby Lee Howell of Corpus Cristi, TX. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastors Harold Stull, Kenny Stull, and Herman Tranter of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday and two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
