Obituary of Sarah Taylor
WELLSVILLE - Sarah Louise Taylor, of Wellsville, was born on January 4, 1931, in New Castle, PA, the daughter of the late William Taft McDaniel and Fannie L. (Peavie) McDaniel. She passed away on March 26, 2018, at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, after a brief illness.
Sarah graduated from New Castle High School in 1949, then met and married Eugene Taylor, Jr. of Wellsville on June 30, 1950. She joined the First Baptist Church in Wellsville and remained a devoted member for sixty-eight years until her death. During her spiritual journey at First Baptist, Sarah served as head usher, head of the kitchen committee, and sang in Choir No. 2 (adult choir). She also served on the Trustees Board and as church treasurer for forty years. Sarah believed in staying active. She served in Columbiana County as power of attorney for those with no family members, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, was past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Stars John Washington Chapter 68 of East Liverpool, Illustrious Commandress of the Al Asir Court 200 Daughters of Isis of Youngstown, was named Unit Queen of Mary Kay Cosmetics in 1981, and volunteered at the food bank at First Baptist Church until her death.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Margaret J. Walker. She leaves to mourn her loss: her son, Eugene W. (Geno) Taylor of Cleveland, OH; her daughter, Sandra L. (Sandy) Taylor of Willowick, OH; a sister, Ruby L. Morris of Pittsburgh, PA; a cousin, Alice Gertrude James of Bedford, OH; two sisters-in-law; two nieces; and many friends and acquaintances.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, 1401 Center Street, Wellsville, OH 43968, with Pastor Darren Rogers of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
