Thurl V. "Speed" Wickham
WELLSVILLE - Thurl V. "Speed" Wickham, 78, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1940, in Stratton, the son of the late Thurl and Anna (Sedmak) Wickman-Boggs. In addition to his parents, Speed was preceded in death by three sisters: Creola Butler, JoAnn Sims, and Margie Cavanaugh; one brother, Dorman Wickham; one grandson, Todd; and his companion, Marian "Missy" Perkins.
Speed served in the United States Army from 1957-1963. He was employed for twenty-four years as a laborer for H.K. Porter Brickyard before retiring in 1982. Speed was a member of the American Legion Post 86 in Toronto, and he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two daughters: Melissa Wickham Cosgrove and her husband, Scott, of Steubenville, and Betty J. Wickham Ledyard of Steubenville; two sisters: Nancy Spencer and her husband, Harold, of Highlandtown, and Debbie Ward and her husband, Marland, of Medina; and two brothers: Stanley Wickham and his wife, Joan, of Irondale, and Joe Wickham and his wife, Anna, of Arizona. Also surviving are three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.
Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
