Vincent M. “Hoppy” Amato
EAST LIVERPOOL - Vincent M. “Hoppy” Amato, 67, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017, at his home.
He was born October 20, 1950, in Wellsville, the son of the late Sam J. and Catherine (Luckino) Amato.
Vince graduated from Wellsville High School in 1968 and from Bethany College in 1972. He was employed for thirty-five years as a history and government teacher for the Wellsville Local School District before retiring in 2007. Vince was a member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge 1040 and Wellsville Sons of Italy Lodge 657. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the former Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include his wife, Amy (Unger) Amato, whom he married August 18, 1990; two daughters: Katelyn Amato of Columbus and Michaela Amato at home; three brothers: Sam J. Amato, Jr. of East Liverpool, Dr. Jack Amato and his wife, Penny, of Irondale, and Dr. Joseph Amato and his wife, Jane, of Columbus; and one brother-in-law, John S. Unger and his wife, Suzanne, of Canton, GA. Also surviving is his very close cousin and friend, Sam Pilato.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Haladej presiding.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
