Obituary of Alene T. Viconovic

WELLSVILLE - Alene T. Viconovic, 86, of Wellsville, went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 6, 2010, at Calcutta Health Care Center where she had happily spent the last two months, feeling like she was at home. She was born October 22, 1923, in Lincoln County, WV, the daughter of the late Lacy and Ellen (White) Via. Alene graduated from Hamlin High School in 1943 and was a loving homemaker, wife, and mother. She attended First Christian Church in Wellsville. She was preceded in death in1977 by her first husband, Clyde Gunther, whom she married November 30, 1945, and by her second husband, George W. Viconovic, on August 24, 1995. They were married on April 7, 1981. Survivors include four daughters: Rebecca Andrews and her husband Wayne, Margaret Gill, Christine Plunkett and her husband Chuck, and Patricia Sayre and her husband Charles, all of Wellsville; one son: Donald Gunther and his wife Marty of Wellsville; three step-sons: Chris Viconovic of Hubbard, Steve Viconovic of Arizona, and George Viconovic of Chapel Hill, NC; four granddaughters: Heidi McIntosh (John) of Wellsville, Erica Villaverde (Felix) of Geer, SC, Sarah Spetsios (Scott) of Brookfield, OH, and Katie Long (David) of Wellsville; four grandsons: Matthew Gates of Wellsville, Justin Gunther of East Liverpool, Andrew Plunkett and Jeffery Plunkett, both of Wellsville; six great-granddaughters: Katlin Villaverde and Andrea Villaverde, both of Geer, SC, Maggie Long of Wellsville, Sydney Plunkett, Reese Gunther, and Tyran Hart, all of East Liverpool; and three great-grandsons; Mitchell McIntosh of Wellsville, Benjamin Villaverde of Geer, SC, and Noah Long of Wellsville. Also surviving is one brother, Garland Via of South Charleston, WV, as well as several step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Alene was preceded in death by a step-daughter: Georgeanne Shockey; and two sisters: Violet Napier and Anna Rupert. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at the First Christian Church of Wellsville with Pastor Troy Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
