Esther Elizabeth Grafton

 

WELLSVILLE - Esther Elizabeth Grafton, 78, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver, PA.

 

She was born September 3, 1942, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Arsell and Lucille (Henderson) Daniels. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Kathryn Allen; her brother, Ron Daniels; and her step-son, Troy Carter.

 

Esther graduated from Wellsville High School in 1960 and obtained an Associate degree in business. She had been employed as a dispatcher for the fire department in Fort Worth, TX, a case worker in Columbiana County, and she retired from her position at the Resource Center in East Liverpool. She was also a salesperson for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Esther was truly a "Tri-State Legend" who was known and loved by so many people in the area. She was very active in the community and was a member of many volunteer organizations, including Down Memory Lane, where she served as President. Esther truly enjoyed giving back to her community and the people in it. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch with her husband, Tom, where she could watch and wave to everyone driving by. Esther was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wellsville where she dedicated her time and many talents to church functions. 

 

She will be deeply missed by her husband and companion of twenty-nine years, Thomas Grafton, whom she married September 9, 2017; one daughter, Sissy Carnes and her husband, Courtney, of Zanesville; one son, Trey Jackson and his wife, Nikki, of Kannapolis, NC; one sister, Elsie Franklin of East Liverpool; and four step-children: Terry Grafton of Huntingdon, PA, Jon Carter of Wellsville, Shawn Carter of Wellsville, and Erica Carter of Wellsville. Also surviving are many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.                  

 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private memorial service will be held for Esther at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville with Rev. Roosevelt Thompson officiating.
